Biography

Michael Riggins is an Associate at Phillips Jessner. His practice covers a wide range of family-law matters, including marital dissolution proceedings, child custody and visitation, spousal support, child support, move-away requests, domestic-violence proceedings, division of community property, and negotiation of family law disputes.

Before joining Phillips Jessner, Mr. Riggins was an associate in the San Francisco offices of Buckley LLP, where he represented a variety of large financial institutions in class action suits and before federal regulatory agencies. Prior to this, Mr. Riggins worked in the San Francisco offices of Vinson & Elkins in their civil litigation division.

Mr. Riggins earned his J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2019, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Berkeley Journal of African American Law and Policy (BJAALP). Mr. Riggins was also an Associate Editor on the Ecology Law Quarterly (ELQ), and he was also a member of Berkeley Law’s Jessup International Moot Court Competition team. He received a Certificate of Specialization in Environmental Law upon graduation from Berkeley Law.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Riggins was a member of Teach for America (TFA) in Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked as a middle and elementary school teacher. He received his BA in Political Science and English from San Diego State University in 2012.
